Introduction

This position is primarily responsible for helping guide and coordinate large groups (up to 150 people at a time; 750 per day) as they move throughout the museum, as well as facilitating store sales. Other responsibiliteis include providing introductions to groups, guiding hour-long tours of the Museum, set-up and clean-up, and other administrative duties as assigned. 

Position will average 20-30 hours per week Monday-Friday, with fluctuations based on need and availability.

Job Duties:

A. Education
  • Provide comprehensive guided tours to student groups as well as the general public
  • Daily reset of education spaces (lunch room, theater, classroom, teaching collections)
  • Engage in all aspects of group management in the museum
  • Work to address issues that may arise with tours, visitors, staff, or volunteers
B.  Museum Store
  •  Assist customers with selecting merchandise, checking out, and following through on customer requests.
  • Maintain customer service standards on sales floor.
  • Direct store staff and volunteers on projects and daily tasks as determined by Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
  • Cover sales floor as needed to ensure adequate staffing.
  • Oversee receiving and inspection of merchandise for sale.
  • Oversee daily opening and closing of store; reconcile and balance any monetary discrepancies .
  • Maintain merchandise displays, including stocking, merchandising, and cleaning.
  • Other duties as assigned
 C. Administrative
  • Data entry
  • Logistics supply (scheduling, assignments, tracking tour numbers)
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as needed
